BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will spend Gandhi Jayanti with thousands of college students in New Delhi at the finale of 'Manthan' -- a nationwide contest on innovative solutions to 14 challenges the country is facing. Over 7,000 students from over 200 colleges are set to take part in the event at Thyagaraj Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Modi was invited as the speaker for the finale after in an online poll over 80 per cent youngsters voted for him as the leader they would like to listen to, said Citizens of Accountable Governance (CAG), the organiser of the event.
Manthan is one of India's biggest youth movements and aims to set the agenda for the 2014 general elections, said CAG. Students from various IITs, IIMs, law schools and other universities will be among the participants. Manthan began after college students were asked to come up with solutions to 14 challenges the country currently faces.
Over 20,000 students from 250 cities participated, said the organizers. Then stundets were asked to choose the best ideas shown on the Manthan website. Simultaneously, 50 experts also gave their inputs.
Following this, three solutions for each of the 14 challenges were selected.
